Phthalates and Sex Toys

What are Phthalates?
Phthalates are chemicals (called plasticizers) that are used in plastics to make them soft and pliable. These chemicals are used in a variety of products that we
use every day including coatings for pharmaceutical medicines, medical devices, building materials, personal care products, cosmetics, packaging materials, printing inks and food wraps and packaging. In fact, most people use products that contain phthalates throughout their day, every day.

Are Phthalates Harmful?
There has been much debate as to whether phthalates are harmful and whether or not consumers should use sex toys that contain phthalates. This debate lead to the only government sponsored clinical study designed to research the question of whether
sex toys that contain phthalates are safe to use. The study found no conclusive scientific evidence that phthalates are harmful or pose any significant health
risks. Conducted by the Danish Environmental Protection Agency, the data showed that moderate to heavy use (up to one hour per day) is not associated with any significant health risk. Most consumers do not use these products for seven hours or more per week.

Like other products, sex toys get their softness and pliability from phthalates. NONE of the products that Passion Parties carries contain Phthaltes. In a press release issued on March 16th, 2010 Passion Parties stated and I quote: Passion Parties once again leads the sensual products industry, as the first and only company to have a 100 percent phthalate-free toy line. The organization made the announcement during its 16th annual convention, as part of its continued commitment to provide the latest innovations in sexual health and wellness. Passion Parties is North America’s leading in-home party-plan company specializing in sensual products and romance accessories.
“Health and safety are very important to Passion Parties and our consultants,” said Pat Davis, chief executive officer and company president. “We listened to our customers and found healthier products to help them explore their passion.”
This bold and responsible move was followed by removing dozens of products from our line up of pleasure products. Out with the old in with the new. Every single product Passion Parties by Erica carries is 100% Phthalate-Free!

  1. I think so.Phthalates have been in the news a lot. We hear about the danger of phthalates in children's toys, about concerns that phthalates are used in cosmetics and the danger of PVC food and beverage containers.

  2. Hi..
Sexual health is a state of physical, emotional, mental and social well being related to sexuality; it is not merely the absence of disease, dysfunction or infirmity.
    Thanks.
